THE EVENT
It was the 1997 ISES/NACE Allie Awards Nite, where the best of the best in special events in the South would be honored for their creativity and ability to 'make exciting things happen!'  Nothing less than the best was the order of the day for the leaders of eventful southern hospitality.  The Awards were sponsored by the Atlanta chapters of ISES, the International Special Events Society and NACE, the National Association of Catering Executives.

This year's awards theme was 'Phantasmagoria,' defined as a fantastic sequence of haphazardly associative imagery, as seen in dreams or fever.  A constantly changing scene composed of numerous elements, and the fantastic imagery as represented in art.  The ballroom of the Renaissance Waverly was swathed in black with electronically generated digital imagery splayed across the walls.  Entertainment was provided by Cirque Du Soleil performers who wondered down aisles, between tables and through the air.

PLANNING
After our successful creation of the 1996 ISES/NACE Allie Awards Nite 'Romantique' Menu Cards/Programs, we were asked to surpass ourselves with a combined Menu Card/Programs for the 1997 Allie Awards Nite.

PROJECT DESIGN
In keeping with the Phantasmagoria theme of hidden things and shifting realities, our designer Gwen Ware created designed the Menu Card/Program as three brightly colored nesting boxes and two small cards featuring dramatic graphics and the silhouettes of Cirque Du Soleil-style performers.  Event information and nominees and awards categories were printed on five sides of each cube.  The dinner menu card and Program Order were printed on two flat cards placed inside the innermost box.
